Laser Printer RepairFrom the moment that you realize you need copier repair, frustration sets in. You had a feeling that something was going wrong, but you could not put your finger on it. Still, you had duplicates that needed to be made and you did not have time to figure out just what was going on. So now, you are down a piece of equipment and all of the work in your home or office has come to a standstill. While you may need to call a professional to come out and take care of things, consider trying to fix the paper feed issues on your own first.Investigate the ProblemYou already know that the paper is not coming through, as it should. The lights are flashing and your work is not being completed. Even if you are sure you have a paper feed issue, make sure that you understand exactly what is happening. Which tray is the paper coming from? Are items being picked up by the machine at all or is it just sitting there and claiming to be jammed? If you clear everything out, is the problem solved? It is always tough to solve a problem if you don't know exactly what is wrong. Once you have a better idea of what is going on, you can get down to your copier repair. Check the RollersThe rollers are often the source of many a copier repair. If you start to see that things are jamming up as the paper is being drawn into the machine, there is a good chance that the rollers are the culprits. Remove the paper and take a closer look. If there are loose pages torn off in there, they could be causing the entire system to shut down. Most of the time they can be removed by hand. If the path is clear, it may be time to clean out the rollers. While still considered a copier repair, cleaning out the rollers is also a maintenance issue. If you don't want to continue to see the same problem over and over again, schedule a time to handle this work every once in a while. Use a lubricant like WD-40 and spray it onto a towel. Take that towel and rub over the entire surface of the rollers. You don't want to leave them saturated, as you will start to see the substance coming out on your documents once they have been run through the system. Take another cloth and wipe the rollers off completely. Remember not to try and force them to turn. There should be a mechanism that you can release that will allow them to turn unhindered. Avoiding the ProblemIf you don't have a fix, you do have another option. On some models, it is possible to skip over the tray that is giving your grief and draw out paper from another tray. This allows you continue with your work despite not having a solution. If you opt for this route, you may want to go ahead and schedule the copier repair for another time.

Is copier sales a good industry? In a previous article I told you all of the wonderful reasons why you should consider a career as an account executive in the copier industry. By now you might be thinking that there are no disadvantages to a career in copier sales. But, you would be wrong. Allow me to play devil's advocate and provide you with the following caveats:1. There is not much social status afforded to a copier sales rep. You are ranked somewhere between a used car salesman and a telecommunications rep. Your friends won't think your job is cool. But, that's O.K. When they are still eating Top Ramen for dinner you can roll up in your brand new BMW and offer to take them to dinner and pick up the tab since you have achieved the financial stability that probably still eludes your friends three years after college graduation. 2. The job is hard. Really, really hard. But, not for the reasons you think. The combination of an awful lot of freedom coupled with the absolute necessity of a disciplined mindset can be a dangerous combination for most people. I knew a manager that used to say, "we give you just enough rope to hang yourself around here". This meant that no one is watching your every move, but, by the time it shows up in poor sales performance, you don't have enough time to improve the situation before the company is showing you the door.3. You must be able to survive on a meager base salary for at least six months to two years until your commissions start rolling in. Most base salaries in this industry are $20,000-$30,000 plus benefits.4. It could seriously take you two years to build a territory that rewards you with a copier sales salary of $60,000-$80,000 annually. This salary range assumes that you are really good at what you do and are at least at 100% of your annual sales quota. This leads us to our last point:5. The company might not give you two years to get it all together. Generally, after your first year in sales, if you are not at 100% of your annual sales quota your sales manager "will free you up to pursue other opportunities". In other words, "you're fired"! Make no mistake about it, your sales quota is not your goal, it is your minimal requirement. Actually, you are expected to exceed your annual sales quota. So, is copier sales a good industry? All in all, the copy equipment industry offers more advantages than disadvantages. If you consider yourself ambitious, energetic and in possession of superior people skills and exceptional communication abilities, this just might be the career for you.
